Yes mostly going from college sports > corporate. It is still a good attribute in the UK but in London you have so many interview stages (often policy) that dictate your path into a firm, you oftentimes don’t get face to face with someone until stages 3/4 in the cycle. So being an athlete is insignificant in bulge bracket industries unless somehow a connection through sport lands you an internship where they often just hire from.
I've seen some exceptional hiring practices and some terrible ones Andrew. Insightful article and useful advice. I did laugh at the thought of calling the coach to see if he needed to 'bribe' the athlete with strippers! 🙈😂😂
Haha I'd take that honestly if it's great coffee! Glad you liked the post :) Happy to share more athlete stuff if folks are keen, but all part of the journey :)
Thanks so much for sharing this!
I feel a lot more confident about showcasing my skills and experiences, even if they're not from the world of athletics.
Call coach!
"Hey Coach, we are recruiting your athlete, but not for college programs." insightful article with a fun spin.
Glad you liked it, thx for the restack!!
I’m assuming this is a US trend? I’ve never heard of college sport being taken into account in the UK or NZ in job searches to this extent.
It must be a hard transition for the athletes to move into the corporate world.

Haha probably best to leave that up to the research! Although from what I've seen, there's weirder incidents out there
Holy Moley - the mind boggles!
I was once bribed with a Double Espresso - does that disqualify me?🤷🏼♂️😂
Great Post
